How should you choose your first Phighter?

Start with playstyle rather than a tier list. Decide whether you prefer close pressure, ranged angles, or direct team utility, then choose a character whose basic job remains understandable even when the match becomes chaotic.

Which questions narrow the roster fastest?

Use a small decision set so the choice remains practical.

  1. Do you want to fight mainly at close range or from an angle?
  2. Do you enjoy starting pressure, following it, or keeping allies stable?
  3. Do you prefer mobility, durability, precision, or flexible utility?
  4. Are you comfortable carrying high team responsibility while learning?

How do the three roles differ?

The role label is a useful starting point, not a complete description. Read the role overview, compare the full roster, and use the beginner guide to connect your choice to team play.

Preference Start by exploring
Direct close-range pressure Melee
Sightlines and ranged damage Ranged
Sustain, protection, or setup Support

How long should you test a character?

Give a candidate several matches with one practice goal before deciding. Early discomfort may come from map knowledge or positioning rather than the character itself, and switching every match makes that distinction hard to see.

Should beginners follow a tier list?

Use rankings only as context. A character you understand and enjoy is usually a better learning vehicle than a higher-ranked option whose range, rhythm, or responsibility fights your preferences.
